I've got a 95 F-150 5.0 and I'm buying a mustang ho intake for $20. I'm looking at getting a set of ho heads and 1.7 rockers. So, here's a few questions. How are my valve clearences going to be? Too close? Will my compression change? Will it severely hurt my emissions? Will i have to modify the fuel system? Its a MAP system. Also, where can I find ho heads?I know I was able to find new reproduction pi heads for my 4.6 pretty easy. I would do mild a mild cam but I'm not sure I feel like going through all that hassle. Any and all information is super appreciated.
Unfortunately you're almost totally wasting your time and money here, the '87+ Mustang 5.0 wears the exact same heads as the '87+ truck engine, and the HO intake is quite a bit smaller and more restrictive than the truck intake, so you would see more gains by just bolting 1.7 rockers on your truck motor as it is. The HO motor has a little bigger cam than the truck motor and you could swap one in but be aware all gains will be at upper rpms you won't see any gains below 2500rpm and may even lose some grunt, but that's the nature of the 5.0 and other cams produce similar results.
Sorry. I'm at work and I kinda skimmed through the reply. Thanks for the info. Any other performance suggestions? I already have brand new ignition system, shorty headers, new cats, and cherry bomb. I think a CAI might hurt me more than help.
And one more question. Are the rockers a shaft style, stud style, or pedestal style?
Pedestal rockers. The difference in your 95's cam vs an HO roller is about ten degrees duration and .030 lift on the intake lobe. The exhaust lobe is the same lift and depending on where you find the duration specs, it's either the same or ten degrees. In short, there's not enough difference at all to justify opening up a running engine to swap in an HO cam when it's got the F4TE cam already. And as the others have pointed out, you've already got the HO heads.
