Were basicly paying $4.00 per gal here in C.A and nothing changed , People will still buy and drive what they want. Maybe at 7 - 8 bucks a gallon , habits will change. I remember people saying if gas go's up to $2.00 a gallon Everyone would stop driving blah blah.
so would you be ok with it if ford decreased the mileage to 10 for next year?
Thats about what i get with my current f150 when im hauling scrap so to be really honest i dont care because im not going that far loaded that heavy and im makin money even with crap mileage. My 4 banger ranger is the daily driver and it gets mid 20s so why doesnt ford update that and leave the fullsizes for work instead of trying to get better mileage out of a giant box and letting the ranger die?

I remember the same song and dance when a gallon of regular grade gasoline hit 70 cents a gallon in 1974 (it was between 30-35 cents before) after the first gas crunch ended and a buck a gallon after the second gas crunch ended in 1979.
With full sized pickup sales down 25% since gas hit 3 bucks a gallon in 2005, ppls habits have changed, which doesn't bode well for auto manufacturers that depend on sales of full sized trucks to remain profitable.
What will happen to full sized pickup sales when gas passes 4 bucks a gallon?
Last weeks fillup = 89 octane was $3.83 a gallon at the local neighborhood Shell Station, and $3.97 for the same octane gas at a Standard Station next to the 60 freeway.

I remember it well. In Virginia, the gas went from around 30 cents to about 50 cents and people were trading Cadillacs for Pintos. I had a company 73 Impala that got a solid 10 MPG and I had to buy gas every day and sit in long lines. We go an exemption for the odd/even tag thing.
When the government sticks their nose in, the supply disappears and it gets even worse.
I have to have my truck but it sits far more now under the carport and I ride my motorcycles.

I am getting 13 now not that big of a differance. Every Ford commercial is mp3 & mpg. I think Ford is very conserned about MPG but we are buying 6000 lbs trucks.
