Thats about what i get with my current f150 when im hauling scrap so to be really honest i dont care because im not going that far loaded that heavy and im makin money even with crap mileage. My 4 banger ranger is the daily driver and it gets mid 20s so why doesnt ford update that and leave the fullsizes for work instead of trying to get better mileage out of a giant box and letting the ranger die?
Yeah, but if you got better mileage that would mean you make more money...And some people have to go longer distances with their load and the bad mileage/fuel cost really cuts into your profit...I've said this a bunch of times on here, and will probably say it a bunch more...Mileage matters to the people that make a living with their trucks...
I disagree whole hardily. The LATEST consumer poll showed 75% of ALL potential new vehicle buyers are looking at mileage charts. In other words, HIGH fuel concerns them immensely. Just look at the latest dealer inventories. They have very high supplies of light duty pick up trucks and SUV's. $4 gas will eventually CHANGE people buying/driving habits. It's called economies of scale. Money talks. Just ask any politician.

Yea Right , Actions speak louder than words : People are burnin gas big time, The oil reserves tell the story (keep falling) More demand = Higher prices. very basic
People will say one thing (like a poll) and do another , Sure i will shop milage then buy the BIG safe high H.P suv. happens every day in the real world.
I keep seeing new motorhomes, trucks, race cars, New Muscle cars coming out
Nascar, powerboating ect , Everywhere you go big gas use.

Reserves falling doesn't mean that people are using more gas, it means the oil companies aren't producing it as fast as we're using it.....they could have just reduced production....
And truck sales are falling, while compact car sales are skyrocketing...
There is no reason an F150 needs to keep getting more and more horsepower all the while not gaining in mpg. The arguement that if you want better mpg, then buy a car is so ignorant its not even funny. I don't understand why such a small truck needs more than 325 HP...even 300 is probably enough. Then the cry is that you want to tow more...if you need to tow more than the 8000 pounds my 5.4 SCrew is rated to tow, buy a freakin SuperDuty. I can't imagine why anyone towing heavy loads or hauling at or near max capacity on a regular basis would even bother with the F150.
If you need that much power & tow/haul capacity, then trade up to a superduty. F150's are light duty trucks that can sstill work hard when you need, but in comparison get driven more daily than any other vehicle...I say put some technology and effort into keeping a 300-325hp engine that gets a solid low to mid 20's in mpg...
When I Ordered my 1979 Bronco , The same thing was going on with gas and prices ect
The Guy at the dealership told me that "Those big gas hog 4x4's will a thing of the past in a few years" That was almost 30 years ago and NOTHING CHANGED, Still saying the same things and The same cars are being bought and sold with the same milage running the same gas.
With my 2 7.3L psds at work getting 12 loaded to 17 unloaded at $4.09 a gallon for diesel here in central MO, we are looking at buying an old Dodge V10 since the mileage is about the same loaded or not at 12mpg and gas being $0.79 a gallon cheaper.
