Code Help - Any ideas??
). I have actually changed it once on the ranger. I had to do the entire unit because ford decides to use stupid phillip screws. Can the tps cause the symptoms described though? I didn't think it could control timing and spark to the level I am having the problem.
When you say PO224, what does the PO stand for.
As far as the cat, I'm going to end up removing it from the system (gutting it to start so that it isn't causing any pressure issues). I don't have any emissions where I live, so don't have to worry too much about that.
The OBD-1 three digit codes didn't have the P in front of the digits.
Well lets think about the TPS code for a minute, suppose the TPS were telling the computer that the throttle was at the wide open position!!!!
What do you suppose the computer would think it was supposed to do about fuel delivery????
Quickly have the injectors dump more fuel into the cylinders, RIGHT, so if in fact the computer is doing what it's been told to do, dump more fuel when the TPS says the throttle is open, but if it's getting a false signal from the TPS when the throttle is really closed, then the air/fuel mixture could go mighty rich!!!!
So address the TPS code, reset the computer, so it knows a repair has been made, restart the vehicle, warm it up & re-do your KOER codes & see if the repair has cleared the code & note how the engine is running.
If it's been running rich for a long time, the plugs could be carbon fouled, so consider that in your evaluation.
If it's still running poorly, then do the fuel pressure check & vacuum meter check for a obstructed exhaust test & seeing as how it really acts up after warming up some, so the O2 sensors are coming online, also do a O2 sensor test & post the results. WHEW!!!! lol
