F250 vs F350

A few of you might know I am looking at a new purchase, i'm not having to much luck finding what I am looking for in the F250 at my price range (around 15k) so I wandered around and started taking a look at the 350's

What are the differences in these vehicles? I have been doing some reading and from what I can see it comes down to vehicle weight, possibly brakes, and some front suspension..is that it? The engine/trans seem the same, do they both get identical mpg? Is the cost to maintain higher?

I have actually found better deals in the F350's than the 250's... (why is this?)

Looking for these options..

front bench seat (prefer leather)
8' bed (not a show stopper, but if I am going to get something this large might as well get the full capability)
4x4
crew cab
trip computer (i'm a bit **** about actually viewing my mpg, regardless of what it is)
non dually
prefer under 150k miles

EDIT: I know these engines last for quite a while, but is 150k a good point to shoot for? I see alot from 150k-175, should I not be writing these off? The transmission is the weak link...

some states require you register a F350 as commercial.......check into that for your state, and compare prices. Just another thing to consider........

Yeah, as Travis said, some states require you register it as commercial, or you can go in, have it weighted. They will then register it a privatley owned truck. But you are not allowed to tow anything with it. That was my experience..

Look for a Lariat and you can knock the leather seats and trip computer off of your list. The Lariat comes standard with both of these.

here's why I am asking this question..

eBay Motors: Ford : F-350 (item 120240084125 end time Apr-09-08 13:00:00 PDT)

what are the actual differences between the 250 and 350 models? is 170k to much? The carfax report is clean, but there are large gaps of no information, and it looks to me that in the last few months, 20k miles have been added

is the mpg the same for both models?

I saw this one and at first blush thought "sweet ride!!"...

eBay Motors: Ford : F-350 (item 160227687782 end time Apr-12-08 12:03:47 PDT)

Look at the pics inside.... what a crappy job of upgrades!!! slap it together and call it good.... i call it CRAP!!!

the 2-guage pod just stuck to the A-pillar, and not paint-matched
the cd-changer between the front seats
the crap-looking sub on the floor in the back seat area

there should be laws against such cheapskate knuckleheads getting their hands on SuperDutys!!!

If it is a dually you will get less fuel economy and have the expense of the extra pair of tires to maintain. Up side on the dually is if you tow alot it is more stable.

mileage as a 250?

From what I've gathered, the only differences in the F250 and F350 single rear wheeled vehicles are the size of the block for the rear spring mounts and the badge on the side of the door....other then that, they are physically identical...

Yes. They are essentially the same truck. A bigger (1/2 inch I believe)block in the rear and an extra leaf spring in the rear. Like maybe 400lbs extra towing capacity. Otherwise no difference what-so-ever.

I thought the 250 actually had a little more towing capacity than the 350 because it was a bit lighter. Check me on that...

It has more cargo capacity -- maybe they robbed Peter to pay Paul??
