Post 351 overheating over 2000 rpms

I just purchased an 89 F250 XLT with tow package. It has a 5.8L V-8. I am having a problem where it is running at the top of the normal range and then the engine light coming on. There is no restriction in the engine or radiator. The water pump checks out. I have replaced the thermostat, but the old one seemed fine, and both opened at 195 when tested. I have noticed that if I keep the RPM below 2000 I can drive the truck without the temp increasing (this is very annoying). I also noticed that if if I increase throttle my upper radiator hose nearly flattens out. I found in a Chiltons where it shows a picture of the thermostat - I can't find one that looks like the picture - is there a 'high-flow' thermostat that is recommended for a 351?
Could this be a problem where the engine is just working too hard or running too lean?

It sounds like your upper radiator hose is collapsing. Try replacing it, its probably worn. This might also cause the overheating problem, it might be sucking itself closed over 2000 rpm.
