It's a small town but its growin fast. All of the farmers are selling their land for houses. And all the city slickers are movin in. Thus brings all the crime. I'm 16 now and I think about when I was 3 or 4. All the areas that are houses now used to be woods and fields. There was also barely any crime when I was younger. But this just makes me mad that the laws pretty much protect the criminal and not the victim
Yea I was gonna shoot in the driveway but I was still loading my gun. I stopped chasing when I got to this place we call the manor. Lots of murders and drugs, etc happens there. I thought well I might wanna wait till I get some of my family together with some more trucks. At least now I know where they went.
With a CCW most city/states classify you as a Peace Officer.
Not that it means anything.
The way things are, your dog could of tore them up and you still would be deep in it chit.
Never run out with an unloaded weapon!!!
My motto is the only time you see a weapon is when the bullit is comming out of the barrel. All the rest is just a John Wayne move.
Ya, no joke... they steal you truck and sue you...
What the h*** happened to this country?
I'd advise police, not the old fashioned method. this is based on CYA
well the law there is to protect everyone, if you were to be making a u turn backing your trailer into somones driveway they percived you as backing in to steal there tractor and came out with a shotgun so you mash the pedal out the drive and they shoot you anyway, they may have felt they were in the right to do so after all you were backing into there property. but if you were fleing after they came out and they shot you anywhaz, how would you feel about that. or if you were chased down the road at 90mph and couldent round the corner and fliped your truck killing yourslef. so when looking at the law you have to realize theres two sides, granit i would want to shoot them too if they were trying to steal my truck
i feel like im condridicting myself with this last comment, i do agree with the law, but in your case i would have come out with a loaded gun, with it pointed at them demand them to stop what they are doing if they immideatly started to flea i would have kept my gun pointed at them as they got in there truck and maby pepered there tail gate or shot the ground shortly behind the truck to tell them not to come back. would i have shot them if they immideatly seased to try to steal my truck when i came out no. would i shoot them if they started to reach for a pocket or come at me, yes.
IDK I believe the laws should be that if someone's stealin your stuff then you can shoot. Of course you guys have a point. Shoot to kill not to hurt then they can't turn around and sue you for attempted murder. Then have a gun with no serial number and none of your prints and put it in their hand. "Hey they had a gun officer."
those kids shouldnt have been on your property. i would have done the same. i woudlnt have tried to kill them, but definitely tried to scare them and show them no to mess with me.

Its just not so simple. If the property was fenced and a gate was open your in the wrong. Not having posted no trespass signs in english and spanish. It goes on and on.
I'm from VA and remember that MD has always been pretty unfriendly to guns politically. One of the few states that still does not have CCW. I applaud you Jethro for being brave enough to take responsibility for protecting your property at such a young age. Don't do anything to screw up your life. Shooting someone could entangle you in legal hassles for years. I would only do it if my life or the life of someone dear to me was in imminent danger. I hate to think what I would do if I came upon an innocent person being attacked. A guy w/ a CCW here killed a man at Walmart who was stabbing his ex wife. The shooter was not prosecuted but the family of the dead guy is still threatening to sue. It's been a few years and no lawsuit yet but I hear it's on the way.
from what iv been told if a warning shot strikes them you can be in deep ****, if you perposuly shoot them in a non lethal manor it shows that you did not feel that they posed enough of a threat to you to warrant shooting at them at all. but law aside i still would have peppered there tailgate, i really doubt they would be going to the cops. but if you strike them and they go to the hospital doctors ask questions. of course a warning shot fired 20 feet away from them probably would be fine. im no lawyer though. however when i was living in ky i had a guy try to break into my home while i was inside i grabbed a golf club as they were trying to break the door in and smaked him 2ce before he took off running the cops said that i was within my rights, although i did chase him about 2 blocks down the road, but i dident strike him after he started running just swung open the door and pop em twice without asking any questions
