I am thinking of doing the cleaveland heads modification to my 351 HO windsor to "wake up" the engine so to speak, I am not fully aware of the procedure to do this though, so if any of you would happen to know of an online walkthrough or happen to be able to tell me the steps needed to make this a sucessful switchover, please reply.
Thanks in advance
Daniel
Your biggest problem will be getting an intake manifold and a set of headers to fit; there are companies which make them but they are expensive (for example, here in Australia there is a company who makes intakes to suit 351W with 2v clevo heads and they cost about aus$750, or about US$375. Also, you will have to modify the head by way of plugging one water passage and drilling a hole for another
Look for a Ford Motor Sport catalog (42 pgs). In the back of the catalog is a blurb on modifing the heads to work with Windsor engines. Shows what to plug and drill. 351/400M headers should work since they have the same exhaust ports as the Clev.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Apr-02 AT 01:39 PM (EST)]XY, Can you describe the different 'Cleveland' type heads you guys in Oz have. I've heard of open chamber and closed chamber heads. True?
Yes the heads would also fit on a 302. Im not sure how easy it is to find a manifold though.

There is another topic on this board that covers the cinversion intake manifold for the 302. I just can't remember which one. It wasn't too long ago if that helps.
Bush Performance in Fort Smith Arkansas makes both the 302 Street Boss and 302 Track Boss intakes, and only the 351 Track Boss. Tracks are single plane, Streets are duel plane. They also have ALL the info and gaskets needed for conversion. Stroker kits as well.

For those of you interested, I have installed Cleveland heads on a few Windsor's and am currently in the process of modifying a 302 for Aussie Cleveland head usage. Installing Cleveland-type heads on a Windsor is actually very easy. Installing on a 302 block requires a bit more effort, but it can be done easy enough, considering. I am using a Victor Jr intake on Aussie heads on my 302. This allows for a "stock" thermostat and housing location as well as a relatively cheap (I got mine used for $80) and easy to find intake. I have seen the "Track Boss" and "Street Boss" intakes, but they seem a bit over-priced to me. I even hear they aren't being made anymore. So, use a standard-design 302 intake. I am short on time at the moment, but will come back and leave a more detailed post on how to do this on both the 351W and the 302. Until then............
