I have the steering loose at the gear box, the cab mount bolts out, now for the brake boost and all of that. So what is the correct way to remove the steering column from there? If i unbolt the brake boost will fluid spill out? Never done this before so excuse the stupidity of the questions, if they are that.
Roger that, however the brake booster frame is bolted through the cab to the steering assembly. If i remove the booster will brake fluid come out and how is the brake rod attached to the booster assembly?
The brake booster assembly is mounted to the pedal assembly, but as Dennis said you don't have to unbolt the brake booster at all. There are two bolts on the bottom side of the dash underneath your steering column cover. Then, the 4 bolts on the firewall just behind the brake pedal. Once you have removed those the only other thing holding the column is to the steering box.
U don't need to mess with any of the brake system.Remove 4 nuts on the fire wall.remove the tranny linkage under the hood with a sm pickle fork.Choose where under the hood in the shaft assembly u want to seperate from and lastly remove the inside column cover 4 phillips screws typically.then remove 2 bolts that drive from the floor up towards the dash LOOK out it don't hit ya in the head. That's it.
all the instructions from the autozone site should have been enough to get er done.
Part #3514 is what bolts to the brake pedal assembly
here's the exploded view
Now see the welded nut on the top right hand corner of this picx, that's what the steering column bolts to.
I don't know if your talking a different application, but on 78's and 9' the column doesn't bolt to that (pedal assembly pic)where 314 is in ur diagram 2 bolts just go through a retainer collar that goes around the column and just bolts vertically through the dash. Those bolts do not go through the pedal assembly at all
Mil1ion do you have a picture of every part there is on our old Fords?
how about a picture of the discumbobulater valve or the reverse thread schrader valve wing nut??
