Ranger manual trans shift question
My father recently purchased a 2006, Ranger, 6 cylinder, 4WD, with manual transmission. He states that at times it is difficult to shift into third gear. Is there any know history with this set-up and transmission problems, or could the transmission just need servicing? If I remember correctly the truck only has 17,000 miles on it. Any assistance or ideas would be appreciated.

Is it difficult to shift into 3rd when engine is off?
What is more difficult to downshift from 4th ore to upshift from 2nd to 3rd?
Do you have unusual sound shifting into 3rd?
Is it easier to downshift into 3rd when you add some gas shifting down?
It is easier to upshift when you shif slower then usually having stich in neutral for 2-3S delay?
