Spring Maintenance...
On the Ex...here's what I've done...
New gas filter – CHECK
New K&N drop in air filter – CHECK
Clean MAF sensor and reset PCM – CHECK
Flush radiator – CHECK
New Anti-Freeze – CHECK
New Mobil1 Oil and Filter – CHECK
Grease tie rod ends – CHECK
Check trans fluid level and color - CHECK
Rotate tires – DOH not check

All in all…I think I’m ready for another year of towing…now if that economic stimulus check would get here…I can pump it right back into the oil company’s profit ledgers!!!

Oh well...at least I'm working on 'found' money for our travels to Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Arches, Denver and then Gatlinburg (be there or WONDER!!!)

joe.
My list:
Cleaned out the IAC vavle: Check
Tightened rear end: Check
Repalced Belt Tensioner: Check
Replace air filter: No check, because i wanted to fab up a 6637 filter
Already flushed the radiator and replaced antifreeze durin the winter.
Changed rear end fluid durin the winter
Will change the trans fluid next oil change
Changed the oil last week
Gave her a good wax on sunday
Joe did u do the wax thing yet???
Rear and front diff's were filled with synthetic last March when 4.30's went in...so good there.
I waxed the mini last weekend...does that count! LOL...that one takes WAY LESS time to do!
Good job on your list too!

haha Some salt u have when u dont even drive ur truck in the winter lol.
Well yeah, but most people don't have a dozen cars and trucks sitting around like I do.
Iffin it snows during the winter of 2008, I can drive my daughter's new 4x4 Explorer now and keep the road salt off me Excursion!
We don't have much ice and snow in Virginia, but when we do they put down salt as if it's free.

For me, fall is when I do the checklist of stuff on it so that it doesn't break or strand me during the winter. So last fall, I flushed the coolant and the trans.
After spending a winter of driving a gray truck instead of a black truck (road salt), it is now all shiny and black again. The warmer months are when I work on the truck, so this season I have the following items planned or have had them done:
- transfer case flush: DONE
- front and rear diff flush: DONE
- Fix the @#*%ing ABS light
- Fix the @#*%ing Check Engine light
- change the battery (will wait on this as long as possible so it's fresh for winter)
- install eBay headers
- Magnaflow muffler
The last two I keep on going back and forth on whether I want to do it or not, we'll see if laziness prevails in this case.
As of yesterday, though, I was getting my truck dirty, towing the utility trailer around the muddy portion of my back yard and moving yard waste around.
You just reminded me of something...
Last November when checking things over for winter...I noticed my OEM Motorcraft battery indicator eye was RED...of course there was NO key on the battery anywhere to be found...but in my experiences...Green is GOOD, Black 70% or more discharged and Red is BAD!!!
So not wanting to venture into the harsh northern winter with an iffy battery...I swapped out my 3 year old OEM battery at that time...so I've hopefully got good juice for the towing season too!
Sounds like you are still fighting the ABS thing?...any luck locating a puter to replace yours with?
joe.
