My EFI 302 is backfireing when accelerating
my 302 is backfiring when i accelerate is it the timing most likley or what

need more info... could be a lot of things...

have you done anything to it?
did it come on all at once?
tell us what happened

Backfiring thru the exhaust or thru the intake?

hey
its backfireing through the intake i belive also the disributor cap it kinda wabbally also its dead on for the timing and has had a tune up somone told me it could be fuel pump or fuel regulator or the distiboter cap

it just back fires and stumbles when i drive down the road it really happens when i slam on the gas like its not getting enough fast enough

was it just rebuilt, need some history? how many miles on it?... could be a broken exhast valve spring or a rocker stud... does it skip on an idle?

i dont know much about it i just bought it it does miss on idle its just backfires when i presshard on the gas when i play with ditributor it get s better some times

to start with... while it's idleing pull one plug wire at a time out of the cap and replace it. when you pull the wire it should be noticable that you did, (the motor should start skipping and shaking)... when you get to the one that dosen't seem to change how it's idleing thats the one that is skipping and giving you problems.

report back... and don't worry as long as you pull them out at the cap you wont get zapped...

could be a simple as a bad plug or wire...

just need more info

Mileage?
tune?
might be water in the fuel
how is the vacuum hooked to the distr.? manifold or ported vacuum?
could be a plug wire crossed... check the firing order.

there is no vaccume on the distr there is no where for a vaccume to go on it and how do i check the fireing order

well the firering order is right the guy i bought it from said the fuel pump did have problems and he said that the fuel filter hasent been changes for a while

then you should tune it first..plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air and fuel filters, pcv valve....

any luck with pulling the plug wires to find the hole thats skipping...
