well it won't be a fast project just gettin the wife to agree right now on a "donor" truck is slow going, shes coming over to my way though specially after I got my tractor stuck yesterday and couldn't get it out, then my f350 got a little bogged down.
prolly takeme a while just getting all of the parts together
One note as well the donor truck needs to be a Diesel as the bell housing on the gasser trans and diesel trans are different. Another option would be to pull your trans and have the output shaft (requires trans disassembly) and also get a 4wd tail housing.
I now have a lead on a 1989 f250, EFI, extended cab 4x4, everything works, gas engine dual tanks etc..
I have actually considered leaving it as is and just using 4x4 when needed, HOWEVER.. should the truck stop working "somehow" would this year donor be ok for my 97 Crew?
By the way, the guy that owns it is 21 bought it to start landscape business, changed his mind, and I may get this beauty for 800$, can you believe my luck?????
I have seen it driving around my small town so I know it runs.
I am so excited going to look it over tonight, I mean either way I got a 4x4, so the way I look at it I still win, at getting my stuff done around the farm.
the axle would fit but its not a desirable axle by any means. The 250's have a Dana 50 twin traction beam front axle which is an independent type suspension. Most guys with 250's want the 350 straight axle Dana 60 which is a much better (yet more expensive) setup.
