If all you looking for is to make it loud then go with no cats. You don't need exhaust if you are trying to make a statement that you have the loudest truck ever made. Just go open header. Ever hear a chainsaw at WOT? You can have your truck sound like that....
Or get 2 high flow cats of your choice and a muffler of your choice and it will be louder then stock by far, but will have a decent sound to it. It won't pop / cackle or drone.
just cut off all 4 cats and run dual straight pipes, no cats and no mufflers and youll be loud, you may have trouble with the o2 sensors throwin codes though, if this is the case you can make homemade mil eliminators (do a search for them) which will trick the o2 sensors into sending a signal that all is good, some people say they dont like the sound but i personally do, i have 4 cats with no muffler right now and its sounds good but soon i will be cutting off all the cats and running trual duals once i can get this dam mil eliminator made
yeah, its illegal in all 50 states as far as i know...? you're point is? haha i guess it depends on your local police, i know most of them aroudn here in the 2 small towns that im usually in, half of them either drive trucks with straight pipes or are cool with us, never heard of anyone really gettin messed with too bad around here, and they do smog testing so its all good around here
if you put high flow cats on there get the front pre-cats cut out, they dont do much anyways, you can get rid of those and only run 1 set of cats and be fine, should sound great!
im doing all this via muffler shop in my city do u know if they'll be able to do that? and what about the O2 sensor in the front cats? what will happen to that if i cut the front cats out? the check engine light will go nutts wouldnt it?
some shops will some wont, i know alot of shops will do it after hours in a kinda on the side job becaus theyre company wont let them, and the precats dont have an o2 sensor, thats why they are ok to cut off, only after the 2nd cat is there an o2 sensor, the front precat is (i believe) just to help heat the exhaust so that when the 2nd cat does it job the air is hot enough for the o2 sensor to take a rearing (again this is just what ive heard i may be wrong, haha wouldnt be the first time) but you can cut out the pre cat without much problems, if you jsut cut both cats and put in 1 high flow cat then you should be golden, will sound pretty good too, not as loud as i like but its your truck not mine haha
hold on let me find the sight again, theyre gettin harder to get off of ebay since they made them illegal, youll pay how much on ebay though i nkow they were like $50 for them at the online stores, you can buy the parts to make one for $6 at radio shack and it comes with a parts list with part numbers, you just need to have acces to soldering iron which i do in my classes so easy fix for me
ok guys heres the link for the homemade mil eliminators, i talked to my tech teacher about it today and he that he would watch over me and make sure i didnt mess it up so they work good, its a rediculously easy schematic they give you to use and it seems pretty straight foward, im just not good with electronics (should be cause im in this stupid elec tech class but w/e) here yall go ZX2 Racing.com : Mil Eliminators
yeah i should be gettin the parts friday (only day im off work) and then next week puttin them things together, if you get em done before me let me know how they work and ill do the same
