Forget about trying to outrun the cops on the "backroads".

Our state troopers are now running around in Dodge Chargers with the 5.7 HEMIs, not quite as fast as that though!

Ours police cars wouldn't hit 60mph quite as quick... but beyond 60mph the evo wouldn't keep up.

They either run SS Commodores (Pontiac G8) or 390hp XR8 Ford Falcons.

Still, the Italians even have us licked (not a photochop - this is the real deal)

We got mainly crown vics in this area, but there are a few impalas and challengers and even Suburu Legacys.

I'm starting to see Dodge Chargers more & more. Here, now they run a bunch of Expeditions 4x4s.

I miss seeing the Interceptor Camaro's and Mustangs.

Just as long as they were going the opposite direction.

In my previous "jaunt" to the US I saw a Mustang being used as an interceptor (I wasn't close enough to see if it was a GT or a V6 however)

Our police also used WRX's as interceptors back in the late 90's when few cars would catch them... the big V8 sedans have caught back up however.
We also used to get the Monaro being used (Pontiac GTO) being used occasionally too... but the sedan version is more popular because you could put DUI's in the back easier.

They are pretty cool.

The Mustang I saw was an unmarked interceptor.

Nevada highway patrol has, or did have some state modified Camaro Z28 "pursuit" vehicles complete with flame jobs.

My old man is a member of the RCMP and he was able to test both the Camaro and Mustang at a local track and he liked the Mustang much better.

The Camaro had the advantage top end ( obviously ) but the Mustang handled much better and the ergonomics in the car suited the setup of the equipment needed in the cars. (aka the shotgun mount )

For the record, only 1 Mustang was destroyed in the testing.
