i just purchased a 20' car hauler.it is a regular 2 5/16 tonge hook-up currently.i am interested in making it a gooseneck trailer.my truck already has the ball mounted in the bed,and as soon as my buddies got wind of me having it they all want to borrow it,lol.does anyone know of a kit you can buy or any suggestions making this conversion??.i was going to check with some local trailer dealers, but i'm sure they will want a fortune to fab me up one........i didn't know if there was some sorta kit available out there??i can probably have a buddy make one but i'm sure by the time i purchase all the material at sky high prices...maybe its worth it to buy a kit if available.i will be pulling this with a 1997 f250 crewcab powerstroke.thanks guys!!
I don't think there are any kits available. You'll just have to find a good welder and have them make it. It may be cheaper/safer to sell that one and buy a gooseneck...
With the world overloaded with attorneys it might be hard to find a fab shop willing to do the work. Sounds like you have a good trade in for a new trailer.
I changed a step deck trailer to GN, but it was a trade out deal w/ local fab shop for use of the trailer. If you are having to pay the entire tab I dont think it would be economical compared to selling your trailer and buying a new GN. JMO
Another consideration, the axle placement tends to be a little different on a goose than on a bumper pull too, the bumper pull are set up to carry 90% of the load, while the goose is set up for 75%.
