I think that is the same, part number 9400 is the push rod, one piece but it doesn't show the different diameters. Mine just drops down into a tight fit hole to ride on the cam.
Hey, thanks everyone for all the responses.
cst 1954 that sure looks like it, although this larger diameter part measures about 2 &1/16 inches long. The larger end has a concave shape to it (warn looking) the smaller diameter end looks like it could have had a notch ground in it and then it looks like it could have been broken off ? kind of wierd anyway. I think they had the original style fuel pump on it?
It is always nice to know where the loode parts go, the warn ares is where it was riding on the cam, mine is like that too. I am sure the rods were all made somewhat different as far as the dimentions. In any case you need a new one.
so I pulled the fuel pump off it has the 10 inch long push rod part, #9400 from diagram and its the same diameter the entire ten inches. so if that broken peice is an old pushrod that broke off how did it get into the crankcase?
I couldnt believe how much oil-tar chunks etc were inside the block once I pulled off the intake manifold, the inside walls of the block have at least 3/8 + inches of buildup.
I kind of want to clean it up a bit before final dissasembly just to make it easier to work in and not having so much crud to deal with. What would you recommend? lots of degreaser and power washer or high pressure car wash?
