96 F250 Speedo Problem
I have a 96 F250 HD, 5.8L, 4x4, E4OD, 71000 mi. Every 2 or 3 months the speedo starts going crazy after I hit 50 mph. It starts shifting in and out of OD. If I turn off OD it stops shifting back and forth but speedo still goes crazy. I cleaned the speed sensor, that didnt work. I put a new speed sensor in and it still does it. Now its going on 3 days that its been doing this. It usually only lasts 1 day and the next day its fine. Ive search as many threads as I could and most said: check speed sensor, check wires, and speedo head. Im just wondering the best way to check these things? Not sure if its a trans problem. Thanks for any input.

rabs ring controls the speedo and therefore the shifting... i had the same problem, ended up being a faulty PSOM. There is a guy in MI that repairs em, not sure who... can't remember. I had a thread on this awhile ago. Anyway bought a new one and the problem went away.
It also killed my cruise control and I had to replace that too.
