ok,I was working on the 95 in my signature today, and realized it would be GREAT if i was about 2 feet taller!! I need suggestions on step stools/ladders whatever other guys like me who are vertically challenged(short) use to be able to reach the engine compartment. thanks!!
hey bro, dont feel bad, i am 6 ft tall and working on the engine compartment of my 250 kills me! I have some things bothering me right now in there but wont touch them until i have the fenders off for the body swap. lets see what tips we come up with! Dan
I made a 12" X18" wood box about 36" long out of 2X2s and 1/2 plywood
Need 12" of lift, set it on one side, 18" of lift lay it the other way.Fantastic for working on my trucks and household chores like painting. Really p d me off when I ran it over a couple of years ago
Gotta build me another one.....
when i had a million and one milk crates i used to ziptie them together so if i ever needed them for something else or i needed to change the size i could just cut or add zipties nad i had endless possiablities to what i had.
at only 5'6 i had problems reaching most every thing in most trucks. nice thing is i can sit in most engine bays of trucks to work. was really nice on older trucks where theres more room.

My old F-100 was like that a bear to get at so I used to climb in even with the engine running and work on it. It had the old 302 ci with a 2 barrel carb, 3 on the tree, and manual steering. It was a beast to drive but went everywhere. Hell when the wife had it back in Oklahoma one time she had trouble with the points after Wally World did an oil change and tune up on it and she crawled in there and reset the points her self wearing a dress and heels. Those were the days my friend.
Home Depot and Lowes both sell portable, consumer grade scaffolding platforms which are easy to assemble and fold up when you're done. About $100. Takes up less space (folded) than two milk crates and some plywood.
Another option is to install an air suspension if you like to fabricate, and lower the truck "into the weeds" when you want to work on the engine compartment
