i have my new pipes on the way but i was just checking it out on the truck, and it seems like it is going to be a pain to get the factory exaust off of the turbo and the down pipe out. how have you acomplished this?? is there any special tequnique
Down pipe comes out easy- loosen the clamp and pry it off at 3 points. Cut your exhaust right after the down pipe straightens out and it will practically fall out once the clamp is off.
Took me 20 mins to get the exhaust off. Get a saws all and cut everything off. You will not need the old exhaust anymore. Get a long metal blade because I went through 3 6" blades. Once you hit the blade on the pipe, it is bent to heck. I had around 6 pieces when I was finished. Cut the down pipe before the trans bracket.

I got 'er done with only 1 blade and I made 3 cuts- would have only been 2 but I decided to cut the muffler out all the way and go for a test run One cut right as the down pipe straightens out (before the crossmember like miller_feed said) and one right before the muffler. I found it was easier for the sawzall to cut (and faster) if once I had a good cut started I only cut one side at a time- IE, keep the tip of the blade in the middle of the exhaust.
Two cuts. At the downpipe and before the cross member and at the rear axle so I didn't have to take the shock off.
A plasma cutter will work also.
I did mine myself and I have offered to put three other PSD 4" systems on. It was simple. Then again, $100 is only about 1-2 hours of shop time and I took me from 7 to 10 with a trip to Subway and three beers mixed in. We did put the muffler on the quiet way and then take it off and turn it the loud way.
Scott wanna come do mine? I'm over a month in the making on my dual install! I'll provide the beer
If you pay the fuel bill to Oregon I will come give it a shot! Note, I will be hauling the gooseneck to haul some tractors back. You guys have some pretty sweet machines out there.
Did I mention you shouldn't buy offbrand duals? MBRP or Silverline...how hard is that??? I have heard A LOT more horror stories from guys who got duals. My single was WAY easier than I thought it would be. I am normally with the guys who would pay $100 to get it done, but this was simple!
Yah what he said ^^^^^ the only problem I had intalling my mbrp turbo back was the broken sawsall blade cause it wasn't long enough to cut clear though. It was a very easy intall....everything fit just like it was suppose to.
When you go to put new down pipe in it would really help to have one more person to hold new down pipe in place while other person puts clamp on and tightens it. I did mine by myself and that was a pain. It would well be worth some beer to have a friend help with that part.

OH how true that is, up, down, up, down and a few tools went flying into the field, what a pain.
