hey guys im looking at the sct tuners and i wanna know how do they work and how do i get the custom tunes from spartan if i get a tuner. do they have a fuel economy mode that actually gets you better mps. thank you.
If you want to wait and spend a few more hundred dollars, Spartan will have their own tuner and will be able to control the FICM which will result in overall better tunes throughout their arsenal. If you want to stick with the SCT, the SCT X3 plugs into the OBD II port under the steering wheel and flashes the trucks computer to the new tune that you put in. Thats the simple version of how it works.

thank you. so the sct uis basically lakie every tuner on the market is has like 3 or 4 different tunes that i could load into my. truck.
Sort of--you can load as many tunes as a programmer can write; the tuner only stores three tunes at a time. If you want Spartan tunes, you can buy the tuner from them also.

no, there is a reason it is the best "power adder" for the 6.0L vs the rest. Most tunes probably don't go too crazy with added CP's and you're able to tune the tranny as well to go control/handle the extra power.
I have an SCT programmed by Eric at Innovative. The tow/economy tune is awesome and the fuel mileage improved drastically. I'd tell you how much but no one wants to believe me, so I'll just say it's significant.
I wouldn't change to a CAI until you know you need one (EGTs too high). I think the increased air flow fools with the air flow sensor and results in an over fueling condition (reduced fuel economy). I have no empirical data to prove this but it's just my opinion so take it for what it's worth. I do get better economy than a buddy who has the exact same set up except he has the CAI and I am running a stock air filter.
