The weather is permitting and me and my friend are installing my 5" MBRP I know that there are some areas i should run into problems..."massage" the downpipe in, getting the old downpipe flange off, the spare tire...is there anything else i should be concerned with...i checked out the whole thing...it doesn't look like any wrong pipes were sent.
Im setting this thread up just incase i have a problem...so i may be on here later asking for help
Are those the top three...i know my mpg will drop like a rock once i get this thing on...im moshing the pedal everywhere i go!
ps-i gave the smilies a chance today...their awesome
By the way...after all is said and done...is there anyone out there who would like a Walker Big Truck Muffler? I'll have a free one for ya if someone would like it. Cheap way to get a nice whistle out the tailpipe and lower egts without having to redue the whole thing! 3.5" inlet and 3.5" outlet
If you get everything lined up correctly, you should not have to modify anything, including the downpipe. A 5" exhaust is tight in a few spots, but be patient and work on getting everything in just the right spot. It pays to take it slow.
i took off my MBRP 4" in november for the MKO 5" and had no real problems. well the last section of pipe exited at too much of a 90 degree angle and was way too close to my rear tire.
i had an exhaust shop change that. the exhaust shop guy also helped to move the pipe away from my rear shock and leave room between the spare too. he put washers on the inside of the rubber isolator, which in essence, pulls the whole assembly over. i imagine if you had the opposite problem, you could put them on the outside. he welded a bead across it to keep them from rattling. heres the finished look. i wanted it to angle back more, to look more like the MBRP design. although they still botched it up a little, i like it better than the more side swept exhaust. plus it is about half as loud in the cab now. no more drone. but it is a lot louder for those who happen to be behind me
Take a crows foot's pointer end and position it right underneath the clamp, then give it a punch. Do this two or three places around the donut clamp and t should free up. You can also use a big honking screwdriver inplace of the crow bar. When you reuse the clamp, put a little anitsieze on it.
PB Blaster, and a rubber mallet, make sure you llosen the nut almost all the way to the end of the threads, then you can turn the T bolt, and lift it out of the keepers
and the winner was pb blaster...soaked it in that stuff and if pretty much fell off. thank you guys it sounds great...the walker btm go destroyed in the deinstallation of it, but that happens
