Last night, after nearly home from a 300 mile trip, my engine began howling like a wind storm...the revs were normal so I suspect the fan clutch froze...I am not positive, but I would think it should spin when the engine is cold...I can barely turn with extreme pressure at this point...should I replace it with the stock part or are there any mods I should try to gain any mpgs or power? I don't have any cooling problems with the stock fan
Thanks

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Jul-02 AT 06:35 PM (EST)]What I did when mine went out was got one with LIFE TIME WARRENTY boy I have got my moneys worth from Auto Zone. About every 5 or 6 years I have to visit them. Never a problem with exchange. My 84 that I bought barely used is replaced with everything LIFE TIME WARRENTY. I am looking at electric fans for my High Performance engine later. But that is later. Maybe I will find LIFE TIME WARRENTY ONES.

AutoZone makes their business selling disaster-bound auto parts, and this is coming from a part-time AutoZoner! A nice improvement in performance and in cooling is a Permacool electric fan, the 16" electric kind. Make sure you wire it through a relay to keep the motor from burning up. I love mine, I hooked it up with the relay harness with adjustable thermostat, and it won't let the temperature get higher than the thermostat setting, ever. TK
