Hi guys, I'm about to installed a overhead console in my 99 f150 lariat. It didn't come with one, so i got one off a friend. I was able to also get the wiring diagrams, but i'm stuck on one thing. I'm supposed to tie it into a "speed signal" wire. I checked the haynes manual and it doesn't show that. Can you tell me what i should be looking for. I just recently installed a gentex, auto-dim mirror c/w temp and compass, so i'm faily familiar with the factory wires up in behind the dashboard. The colour of the wire thats on the console, would i be looking for the same colour wire in the factory loom?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
99 didn't have a overhead console that I can find. It did have a cruise control which uses the speed sensor input which is a grey/black wire. The cruise module is located on the driver's side fender under the hood.
This grey/black speed wire comes from the powertrain control module which is under the hood on the passenger side fender.
The raw speed signal that goes into the PCM comes from a sensor in the transfer case or the output shaft or both. Common is grey/red and the transfer case signal is a pink wire, and the output shaft signal wire is a darkblue/yellow.
