I have purchased all the parts (I hope) to install an overhead console in my '01 F250SD V10 Crewcab XLT 4X4. I was also faxed wiring diagrams associated with the console wiring harness. It looks like the console harness connects somewhere by the glovebox/right kick panel area This harness appears to power lighted vanity visors which I may add later. My guess is I'll need to disconnect the battery so I won't zorch the console module when connecting the harness. I also saw in a previous post that there is an underhood sensor for the outside temp display on the console. Any input on that? I'll need a little help in removing the A pillar molding, dropping the headliner and any other moldings/panels to accomplish this with out destroying these parts. Any input would be greatly appreciated as I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.
Yes, that would be a Ford factory overhead console typically found in the Lariat trim level. The outer housing is color specific and my interior color is grey.
I ordered three parts from the dealership located in the San Fransisco bay area (Silicon Valley). The part #s, description on the invoice and list prices are as follows.
Again, anybody out there who has removed the necessary mldgs/panels and the headliner to do this project, could you pass the info along as I'd like to get goin' on this project! I hope the above info is helpful and thanks for any input.
You might search for a "cab light installation" thread. If you can find one, the instructions should be there for removing headliner and A-pillar trim.
Be sure to take lots of pics so we can see what it looks like!
OK this is the old thread. Can anyone comment on if they have tried this? The $$$'s for a new one sounds outrageous - so I will look in the yards for a wrecked one.
