I'm going from a 300 to a 302 b/c it quit on me. I need all the brackets for the alternator, a/c, p/s, etc. Where can I get them at other than a junk yard. I need to know if my NP 435 bell housing will bolt up and I need to find a fly wheel some where. Auto Zone and Advanced don't sell them for manual transmissions.
I got some of my stuff off of ebay. I got a flywheel, clutch, pressure plate for under $150. As far as the brackets, two places: the junkyard or Ford. There is a BIG price difference in those two. I got all of my brackets and accessories from a junkyard. They work fine.
Depends on the money you want to spend...vs. the easiest way to do things...Zoops in Banning, California has the complete front end setup...timing cover, water pump, brackets, and pulleys to get everything lined up, it's expensive, but looks great (billet aluminum)...I talked to one of the owners and he cut me a deal, but it was still expensive...
Yes, the bellhousing will fit the 302. As for the flywheel and clutch setup, check out [link:www.northernautoparts.com|Northern Auto Parts]. They carry the flywheels and clutches.
I helped a friend do this swap a few years back, and one thing I see you did not mention was the V8 mounting plates. These plates mount behind the cross member to the frame and the crossmember.
The reason for these plates is due to the 300 having motor mounts about 6 to 8 inchs in front ofwhere the V8 moutns are. You will need to remove the I6 mounts and install these new mounts. I got our wet from a yard. Had to torch the old ones off as well, they were cold riveted down.
I think I have a set of the V8 plates laying around in my garage if you are interested. They are just taking up space and I am willing to get rid of them cheap.
Let me know if you need any other help with you swap.
