Hi all. i have a 7.3 Power Stroke. I am looking at a dumptruck. It is a 1987 International 1600. it has a 7.3 IDI motor, non turbo i think. would yall recommend it? how is the power? it has only 87,000 miles, all original. has a real nice bed on it, and good lift for $6900. what yall think?
87 was the last year for the 6.9 with some 7.3 upgrades.......
Vin # info
I indicates 6.9 liter IDI non-turbo.
M indicates 7.3 liter IDI non-turbo.
Visual differences....
Cylinder head bolts - 6.9 = 7/16"-14 UNC 5.25" long
Cylinder head bolts - 7.3 = 1/2" - 13 UNC 6" long
As for the mileage does the odometer have 087000.0 there were only enough number positions to go up to 99999.9 then they rolled back to 00000.0 so actual mileage could be 1 or 2 hundred thousand plus the numbers shown. Condition and paperwork will only tell for sure......
At 87k you shouldn't have to worry about linear liner cavitation, but if you buy it get some coolant test strips from your local wix filter dealer. check the coolant for nitrate this should kept at 1200ppm
