Has anyone done a 7.3 idi swap to a 7.3 power stroke tubo?Can this be done and what all is involed or is it a direct swap except computor and exhaust?My idi is slowly dying and starting to puff heavy blue and I have a 7.3 power stroke complete in another truck but its in a 2wd f-450 dually and I want to keep my f-350 dually 4x4.

 

It can be done. It is best if you have the complete donor truck to get the parts from. Otherwise it would cost a small fortune to do it. From what I understand you have to change the dash and the tps as the powerstroke is a drive by wire and the IDI has mechanical linkage to the pump. The computer and wiring harness needs to come out of the powerstroke also. Anything can be done with enough time and money.

 

I'm thinking of going the other way PSD-IDI(w/a turbo). i'm tired of $300 injectors and I think the idi gets better mileage

 

I think it would be cool to have an Excursion with a ZF-6 and an IDI turbo.
Then I could sell my wife's Suburban.
I'm pretty sure the Excursions were all automatics and the input shaft is larger in the ZF-6 so it would be A LOT of work.
