New Shoes

Just got back from having new shoes put on. 285/75/16 All-Terrains. They look pretty good and fill the wheel well much better than the stock 265's.

Yep, 285s are a real nice size on a stock truck.

fivonut, those look great, did you get D or E rated? I have been shopping for a set for a few weeks but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Can't decide on the D's or E's or even going on up to the 295/75/16.

Get Es if you do any towing or heavy hauling. I have Ds just because OC ATs aren't offered in E for my size and the fronts bag plenty at max PSI.

I got D's. The E's didn't have white lettering and I don't haul much if anything.

Moving to the larger diameter tires and droping a load range will give you almost the same hauling capacity. I checked out the BF Goodrich website and they had the following:

265/75R16 E 3415# @ 80 psi
285/75R16 D 3305# @ 65 psi

You'll get a nicer ride with the D's and won't loose much.

Looks good!

Looks good. The 285's do look more appropriate to large truck.

One day you will be looking at your truck and thinking the 285 on 16" wheels look like too much rubber and not enough wheel and you will go out and buy a set of 18" wheels for pre 05 trucks and a set of tires to match like I did.

Better with age. When new they were a bit squirelly.
