i have a 2000 f-150 5.4 4x4.. is there a difference between the stock gauge cluster and a lightning cluster i had thought about installing one on my truck but im not sure
The old rule was the lightnings had a higher speed speedometer. Early lightnings had 120mph were the the regular f150 only went to 85. I am thinking that the newer ones go to 160 instead of 120mph.
It's matched to the tires for liability reasons. Trucks usually come with 90-110mph rated tires, so it should be pretty close to those numbers. The Lightnings should have a Z or W rated tire and be limited at 120-150mph.
Which is only important if you don't have a tuner.
That's going to depend a little on the cluster. Some clusters have bulbs that can be removed from the sockets, in that case, you can add a led replacement bulb. However my 2002 F250 the bulb is not easily replaced in a socket and then there is a voltage issue from using bulk LEDs.
I looked over google, but all I found was info for 194 replacement, not the socketed lamps I have.
