Performance Effect With 35" Tires?

I pulled the trigger last night and ordered a set of 315 T/A KO's to replace my 365/75 stockers. I will also install a Truspeed to offset the size difference.

Now my paranoia has kicked in and I'm worried about how much affect the taller tires will have on my hot rodding.

Question is, how much change have you guys noticed when increasing tire diameter? Could you really notice it?
Did I make a mistake? Help...I'm suffering from cognitive dissonance!

Well, I have got some bad news for you. It will drastically effect your performance. It is almost like going back to stock with your DP Tuner. Although not as bad. You can change to 4.11's and things will pick back up. I am waiting for funds to come in to change mine.

With your DP Tuner and 35s your truck runs like stock?

Really?

I run 315 Toyo Open Country M/Ts and haven't noticed that much of a performace loss at all. I do have slightly higher EGTs while getting on it at low speeds but that's really just about it. I can still boil the tires and even rolled out on a two lane to pass some idiot that couldn't drive worth a !*#! just yesterday. I passed him like he was sitting still.

That is the way mine is now. It will spin both rears rolling along in second gear on the 80 HP Econ setting. I have to feather the throttle to get the fastest launch and hope the bigger shoes will help it hookup.

I'll turn around and sell the new tires if it you guys convince me it makes a huge diff.

No, I wouldn't say that it is that bad, but it sure seems like it. Maybe I have a problem. I still get good boost numbers at about 28-29psi. I don't know. I feel like I have lost a lot of the bottom end torque that I had before.

Damn, something is wrong with my truck. 35" toyos, on heavy 20" wheels, i think it's 120 pounds a corner. From a stop the tires dont even think of breaking loose, i can somehow manage around turns, on wet pavement its a different story though. I think im going to put 33" AT's on next time to hopefully get some drivability back.

Wow I would say you have a problem. I have 35s on my truck and can light them up any time I want on the 50 hp setting!

I have 35's and my truck runs just fine with my superchip set at tow/performance (middle setting) I can get my tires to spin from a stop just pushing the throttle down hard

No, dynos do not lie, unless all trucks are way low. We can discuss things next week Kris. I have made some observations of my own. Again, we will discuss this face to face. I have some ideas about this but I am not prepared to post about any of it right now.

I can completely ROAST my tires if I want to.....and I only have the Superchip Micro-Max tuner. I'm running 315's in the BFG KM2's.......there is a difference in power compared to stockers.....but your truck (if it's modded) will NOT be a dog. I just can't wait to feel the difference with the DP Tuner....I'm starting to sound like a broken record
