I picked up a used 06 F350 SD in Jan. I just had a Linex spray in liner done and noticed my tailgate to bed alignment is quite off.
Bottom of tailgate is 1/2" gap on either side, but the top of box is almost 1" -1 1/4" on either side. Like the top off box is pushed out. There is no signs of damage to the truck, and the box had very light use by the looks of the scrathces in it before the spray on liner.
Is there any measurements I can take to confirm it is out of shape? Anyway to suck the top back in? Or is it possible it has a wrong year tailgate on it?
Tail gates are usually not obtruse in shape. There were probably some heavy loads in the truck that pushed on the side walls. Doesn't have to have physical damage to spread the box. I would try dropping the tailgate and come-along the rear top of the bed. Just a little at a time and then close the tail gate to see where you are. Good luck.
