Is a 1966 289 4V(not the hp version the next step lower). What would i expect for milage to. It has a Ford aluminum 4v high rise and came with a holley 750 double pump(yeah i know its a little big for the 289). It has a minor rust spot in one cylinder but other than that it is in really good shape and has very very low miles on it. And it came with a munci 4 speed to.
BTW-its getting new rings, seals and bearings and probably a set of headers to.

82' Flareside: zoom zoom doesn't even begin to describe it, 2/4 Drop, Soon to have 325hp 351 Clevo (maybe more,in a 3600lb truck)Backed by a C6 with a 2000 rpm stall and a 3.50 9 incher, American Racing AR-23 (series 23) wheels, Upgraded interior, Sony Xplod stereo
Check that trans, it's probably a Borg-Warner T-10; a muncie won't fit behind a 289 without an adapter bellhousing. The 289-4V used a cast iron intake with a 485 (approx) cfm Autolite 4bbl and made 210hp (advertised) from the factory. That intake is either an aftermarket or Shelby and, you're right, that carb is too big (although the Cobra came with a 715cfm Holley stock). A better carb would be the 600cfm Holley or 500cfm Edelbrock. 289 heads require a lot of work to flow well, so you might look at a set of aftermarket heads if you really want to make power. Windsor Jr's are good. The weak links on a 289 are the small rod bolts and skinny oil pump shaft; replace them with ARP parts. A good cam would be the Edelbrock Performer RPM. A cheap torque increase can be had by installing a pre-'82 302 crank, opening the 289 rod's pin bores from .912" to .927" and using a set of Chevy 350 flattop pistons with a head gasket that has a compressed thickness of at least .040". Just be sure to check valve clearance as the Chevy valve reliefs aren't in the same position as the Ford's.
