Look at the front shocks. If they are red and and white and say RANCHO, then find a super elevated concrete road with some rough joints. Get going about 55 mph and then do a John wayne and HOLD ONTO THAT BRONCO! (aka Super Duty)
It is an easy fix. I did not put on the dual stabilizer on my 2005. I did replace all five shocks, 2 front, 2 rear and stabilizer and the truck drove better than new.
Yes if will surface on a test ride, mine did at 40mph, and I asked the dealer WTF is this ? " oh it must have thrown a tire weight" .
They took it in the shop I think lowered or raised the air pressure, took it for a ride , seemed to be gone, bought it, then on the way home on the freeway, it almost killed me. Going 70 mph hit a bump and wobble, wobble, wobble - I had to hit the brakes to straighten the wheels and tires.
Like I said easy fix for me, Bilsteins, Procomp duel stabilizers, new tires, balance , and alighnment.
Man, I don't know. Been sittin' here doing a lot of thinking about these trucks now.
A scary out of control condition at 70MPH on a newer 2006 truck? It kinda makes me think I shouldn't be buying this thing. I mean, c'mon, today's technology shouldn't have these kind of issues, right? And I guess I don't know how I can justify dropping that much money on a truck that I am certain will have these issues.
If you're willing to make the changes to eliminate DW, buy the truck. If you're not willing to make the changes as suggested here then don't buy the truck.

I agree 100%. I guess its just kind of a mental thing, ya know? Shelling out lots of cash for something that has an inherent problem.
I do believe that the suggestions will work, I'm not doubting anyone on here. I'm just talking about it from a viewpoint of getting a newer truck that has a design flaw in it. I love all the aspects of these trucks, and I don't mind making the changes. Just a psychological kind of thing, that's all I was trying to say. Sorry if it came off any other way.

Easy fix, you must be a billionaire! I'm looking to close on a job3 08 F250 CC SB FX4 but I can't justify the purchase if I have have to change out the Ranchos and the Wranglers. Is the dual stabilizer all I need?
As regards the dual stabilizer, I have some newb questions:
1. Where is it to be fitted?
2. Is there a stock stabilizer and does this need to be removed?
3. What is the difference between dual and a regular stabilizer?
4. Any particular brand?
5. Who can fit it and what is total cost?
It's embarrassing to ask so many tech questions but better to swallow ones pride and learn then remain silent and stupid. Thanks in advance guys.
Hey, no apology necessary, that's why I put the 'smiley' in my post. It's a large amount of cash for a depreciating asset so you need to ensure you're making the correct decision.
I really like my truck, it just needed some additional items to make me happy with it. Of course, every vehicle I have ever owned needed some mods.

OK, just making sure I'm not causing trouble around here
Are you saying you had the problem before you replaced the shocks?
EDIT: Never mind, I found what I was looking for....see the next post.

Was it the Procomp part number 219567? That is the whole kit (don't know exactly what that means, I've only seen a spreadsheet with part numbers, no pics). Or did you just put two of the shocks on it (not the whole kit)?
EDIT: If it is the whole kit, what I've found so far is that it's only $140 or so. Not bad.

Just to throw my 2 cents in, it's not an easy fix all the time. I've got a 2006 f350, 6.0 cc lb 4x4. Got the stabilizer, tried new tires, wheels, diff shims, frame balancer, road force, alignment, driveline, ujoints, etc. and no fix. Done it since I drove it home new. Its got 22k on it now, and is the same. Dealer says no fix for mine. All repairs done at dealer, and yes, truck is bone stock.

When you say "stabilizer" do you mean an aftermarket installed on the passenger side of the axle?

May I suggest reading through this thread for suggestions on addressing the DW issue.
What are the front coils on your truck rated at? Have you changed the shocks all around with Bilsteins?
I don't know about "billionaire" but the truck was an 06 F250 4x4 with 42k miles, and a full Utility box, and roll top enclosure on it with a 2" Tube headache rack, and I only paid 16K for it, so to spend 1K on tires & balance, $300.00 stabilizer installed, $79 alignment, and $250 shocks is more than worth it to me since the Utility Box was 12K alone .
I was also thinking what is my life worth, and you know the number I came up with , well it was over the $1,600 I paid to make the truck safe.
