I have a truck that started loosing oil pressure after 10-15minutes. I removed the crank and every journal need grinding. The engine ran well, so I bought a crankshaft kit. I have two questions; 1. Does anyone know where I can locate main and rod bearing torque specs. 2. What would be the cause of bearing and crank failure? I see no oil contamination and the inside of the block is very clean. The engine has 128k miles on it, but it appears to have had engine work done on it a while ago, not sure when, but my guess would be 50-60k miles ago. Thanks
Maybe the previous owner put in a crank kit from autozone Seriously, if someone half assed the repair work or just threw in a crank kit from a chain store and did'nt check the clearances that would be a problem. If the engine runs rich the excess gas can cause excessive bearing wear.Just do it right this time.At least plastigauge the journals and check the clearance before you put it back together.
