Heads installed backwards??

Well I went a made the biggest mistake of the century, I installed my heads backwards I really dont want to tear the motor down again I have it almost complete except for the front accessories...Now the only difference that I know is the emissions exhaust hole on the side of the head is on the front now, and since I dont have a cat converter I can just ditch all the emissions stuff and plug off the hole right????

I used a 5/8" threaded insert with 7/16" threads inside. That allowed all my acc. to bolt up.

I would have thought the intake runners would not line up like that.

Yes new gaskets are in order. Not running the engine doesn't matter. You torqued the heads down during install and crushed the gaskets to some degree and they should not be retorqued.

A NPT plug is a couple of bucks at most, why not just plug the hole instead of pulling the entire motor?

Side by Side the heads are identical, the only difference is the air pump hole on 1 side of the heads and thats facing the front on mine...Hopefully I can just get these inserts I need and this motor will be ready to drop

You can get NPT (National pipe thread - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) fittings at any good hardware store, in the plumbing department.
