Not sure if anyone else is having problem using the search feature, but I keep getting errors.
I took my truck in for its second oil change and to check a few other things:
1. They replaced a back up light previously; however, it is not as bright as the original. When driving the truck, it is difficult to tell if it is even working.
2. Check recall on driver side seat.
3. Reverse aid sensors, not all working
4. Check and verifty the DPF is not cracked, my exhaust is not black with soot; however, its definitely not as clean as when we bought the truck.
I received a call stating the truck was ready, except the Diesel Tech says my truck does not have a DPF. DPFs are only on gasoline engines.
I was hoping to find some earlier posts I have read concerning cracked DPFs, etc. so I could explain to him! I know my dealership did not have a certified diesel mechanic a few months ago.
I wanted to document with the dealership, that I wanted the DPF checked... however, now I am concerned should I have true engine/exhaust problems, will they be properly taken care of.
Sorry for the ramblings, what are your thoughts on this?
find a another dealer, and FAST. any respectable tech should know that all new diesel have a dpf, diesel certified or not!! but, if you have any real problems, you'll want a good certified tech to do the work. i personally wouldn't even let a dealer change the reverse light. takes them 4x as long and they have a descent chance of screwing something as simple as that up. here is one link for you...
Thanks Guys. This was my initial concern when I wanted to get the first oil change and was told they did not have a diesel tech. I just got done re-reading about the "ticking noise." I had that for a couple hundred miles after the first oil change, and I am hoping that it doesn't come back after this one.
Mastercaster... thanks for the link, that was the thread I was looking for, but I am unable to search the site.
Like everyone said, check all the work they have done previously and find a new dealer FAST.
one thing you may want to make sure of, what kind of oil did they use.
Ask to see the dispenser and check it for the correct CJ4 labeling yourself.
If they didnt use the correct oil- you know what to do.
hope all turns out well for you.
good luck
my next question...how do dealers NOT know about the DPF...and the EPA is sending out teams to check for DPF deleters...
Do you have any confirmation that the EPA has "teams" out to check for DPF deleters? Have they checked your DPF? Have they checked the DPF of someone you know? Did someone reliable at least tell you that THEY had been checked? Not trying to be an *&^ just wondering before an innocent statement creates a panic.
