DP in a 5-speed

Tomorrow me and my buddy are putting a DP in his truck (username 'stacking')

when I put my DP in with the auto tranny I had to remove the cross-members that hold up the tranny and lower it down a few inches on a jack to get the new downpipe in.

My question is, for any of you who put a DP in with a stick, does it go in pretty easy? or am I going to have to move the trans a little to get the pipe in?

thanks guys.

-brian

PS- also probably gonna put in the 6637. cant wait to hear the turbo sing with those stacks!!

I didn't have to move mine at all. But it is tight. Toughest part is cutting and removing the old one. Then cut slits about 1/2in apart in the body seam at the bottom of the firewall. Smash them flat w/ a BFH and it should fit. To cut the old DP and slit the body seam I used a sawzall, 4 1/2in angle grinder and a small 3in air grinder, depending on what fit best for each cut.

I did mine with the trans out but I wouldn't think you neeed to move very much. May have to loosen crossmember and lower trans, worst case.

yeah when i cut my old one out i had access to a plasma torch. that made the job super easy im gonna have to do it with all sawzall this time. this is good tho, i dont wanna have to move the trans if i dont have to being im not gonna have an impact.

thanks guys
