I have a 7.3L TD with 148K on it. I have a AFE stage 2 Intake and Silverline 4" Dual exhaust. Up until doing some more research, i was about to purchase a SCT Livewire programmer. Now i see everyone is running DP tuner. Can someone explain to me the process of getting and installing one of these DP Tuners. I see most marketed chips plug into your PCM and you just download the tunes. I am looking for some hp, mpg, and performance but nothing crazy. Also, with gauges in mind, will a stock tranny hold up if your truck is a daily driver?
I don't know about the DP tuner, but the 7.3 and the 4r100 trans has been a pretty good combination. I personally know a guy who burned up his turbo power braking, and the trans is still rolling 7 years later (I installed most of the kit, it was supposed to produce 900ft lbs on max power)
