But, I did take the air compressor to all the latches yesterday and saw quite a bit of dust and debris come from all the latch mechanisms.
The rear barn doors especially... And I use them quite a bit. Not to mention go to the desert to ride dirt bikes quite a bit.. My truck sees lots of dirt.

Anyways, just blowing them out seems to have done the trick for now. Although I fully intend to lube them as well.. Don't want to use WD40 because although I agree with AltaEX and believe that it is the miracle spray, don't want to use it because the dirt will only stick to it later and pull it back in.. especially since I cant get in there to wipe off the excess.. Going to find a can of dry graphite spray.. I've used that in the past and it dries well I think.
Use rubbing alcohol, thats what I use and it always fixed the problem with the lights that have come up over the years.

Rubbing alcohol will make a great cleaning agent, but not much in the way of a lubricant..?

No, it won't lubricate. Besides the latches are in need of a cleaning not an oiling. The lights don't turn off because the latches are dirty. It won't hurt to lubricate though. I'm just saying to clean them with alcohol right now so you don't have to worry about the lights staying on anymore.

I kinda thought that they were in need of both...

I don't know how the latch functions, but I can only imagine that somehow the dirt is preventing some part from moving freely and causing it to not return to a certain point passing some trigger that tells the lights to go off..?? The oiling I would think is what would help this situation so that it doesn't return.

Or I guess it could just be a cleaning due to dirty contacts..?? I guess I hadn't thought about it in that sense.. if so, I would think you are right, and a cleaning is more of what is needed than a lube..

Anyone actually take one apart to see what it is that is causing the issue? Is it mechanical or electrical?
