Holly crap SKI, I can get one off E-bay for $200.00 for that with shippping, I SAID CHEAP!!
I have tried them already thought one of yall might have yanked one off for a home-built. Plus "HE" doesn't want to swap it out, I do. Thanks yall...
I ordered a chrome shell from a collision shop, $200 for a flare side bumper. I removed the whole bumper assembly from the truck, unbolted the shell (yes the bolts were rusty but took my time and had to cut two lag bolt off), had the inner portion sand blasted and then painted it with under coat paint. It almost looked new except for the pitting from the rust. I got new stainless steel lag bolts and bolted it all together. It was more work then what I wanted to do and I'm not sure how much money I saved but it turned out looking nice. Hope this helps.
Like sdeforest, I ordered a shell for my flareside & paid over $300 for it, that didn't include the ss nuts & bolts. I also had to rustproof the bracket assy. & remove & reuse the rubber pads. The full size bumper I bought didn't fit & it is rustproofed & has the mtg. brackets & pads included, dealer wanted over $800 for a replacement.
I must be spoiled cauz we have a aftermarket body parts place close and they guarantee their chrome parts against rust for a lifetime. They are cheap and have a huge warehouse, everything I've ever need to buy was in stock. header panel, bumper and grille for my 01 there was like $650 for all three items, and all were a great fit and look good, and no waiting at all.
I really don't WANT to go aftermarket IF I can afford ($$) it. Hate to say it but, I hope to find one smacked in the side so I can use the front one (got a dent, from letting my Bro-In-Law use it, that'll never happen again.) and get the rear for my bro's truck. I have heard bad stories about bolt holes not linning up on CHEAP aftermarket ones. I guess I'll have to save my lunch money up and get the good one. Hey scottie, which aftmkt ones did you use? Just wondering....... thanks yall.
