Crankshaft bolt size
Trying to find what size the crankshaft bolt is on a 1997 4.2L F-150. Seems to be a fine thread 9/16. Trying to locate a tap to clean up the threads(please don't ask why!!!!) Thanks in advance for your responses.

I'd bet $2 that it's metric. Probably M14 X 1.25.
Snap-On sells that tap online. Don't ask me how I found this out (although that tap is around here somewhere). I could not find it locally....

My adventure wasn't on an F-Series engine, however, Ford went to metric fasteners two decades (or more) ago for most things.
Again, it's a really strong hunch based on your description and on my adventure.

Just to follow up. Turned out to be M14 x 1.5 Had a tap overnighted, cleaned up yhe threads and the crankshaft bolt went right in and tightened nicely. Thanks again for pointing me in the right (metric) direction!
