Maybe your batteries are low and need to be charged this may not fix the problem but worth a try, I don't know what error type 8 is ,have you contacted superchips?

FYI I bought a superchip one time and it was messed up I had to contact them directly for an exchange

Good Luck

I would give SC a call directly and see what they have to say. I have never heard of any problems like this.

I called Superchip, The tech guy was'nt real talkative,he said make sure
batteries are reading at least 12.6 volts and it was ok to use a charger even
though manual says not too!
And also make sure their isnt a gold chip by the computer!
I will check this weekend when I have more time, now that I know where the computer is!

The PCM is accessable by removing the driverside kick panel (hood latch release and parking brake area) and then remove the three nuts that secure the parking brake pedal assembly. then you will be looking at the back of the PCM where a regular chip is installed.

I pulled kicker panel and e-brake assembly away and see the
back of the computer took the two screws out of the black box
inside of box is a green circuit boardwith a hypertech sticker on it.
So what do I do next??? Leave circuit board off? and try to re-program
the super chip? or what it is down in the driveway and I will need in a few hours!

That is a chip in the PCM. You could remove it.

you cant put a superchip in the truck with a physical chip in it already. pop the hypertech out and program the superchip and see which one you like better.

I wouldn't worry about the black cover. Just make sure the key is off and the keys are in your pocket when you pull the chip. Then like Joe said. try the SC and see which you like.
