Hey guys, I'm on my last nerve right now.
Over a year ago I took my truck into the dealer to have them diagnose a sound that was coming from behind my transmission somewhere. The noise started shortly after I had the front in-tank fuel sending unit replaced. I suspected the U-joints were about at the end of their life. I wanted to get them replaced. The service manager said point blank. "Those are just pings that the aluminum drive shaft makes when they get old. There is nothing to worry about, the noise isnt critical, no mechanical damage can come from that noise." Turns out I was right as my U Joint at the rear diff, seized up and ripped out the rear coupling on the driveshaft. Now to my problem. I can find new U Joints....what I can't find is a driveshaft for my truck.
I have a 1994 F-150 4x2 5.0L E4OD 133" wb and a End-End driveshaft measurement of 69 1/2".
needle in a haystack. because of the differences in the engine/trans/Wheelbases, finding one from a boneyard would be damn near impossible. I've been searching high and wide in the boneyard databases and have found some with matches for these three criterea but they fail the final one...driveshaft length.
