There are three wires to the EGR position sensor. Orange/White which should be power, about 5v. Black/White which should be ground. Brown/Light Green which should be the return signal to the computer. If you put a 100 Ohm resistor between the Orange/White and the Brown/Light Green you should be telling the computer the EGR is wide open. If you put a 5000 Ohm resistor between the these two wires you will be telling the computer the value is closed.

I would ignore the "code" alltogether.
It should not be causing a light on the dash to come on.

I don't run "another problematic" EGR either. They have a leaning effect to the motor at highway speeds . Thats how they get a lot of the "Fuel economy" out of cars today.
A cheap rendition of nitros , with out the compression increase of a freezing, inert(non-flamable), gas expanding, as nitros dose.

The code will always show , just ignore it.
If you do have a check engine light..........Look at a new O2 sensor

The problem with disconnecting the EGR and not telling the computer the valve is closed is that it will still add the ignition advance called for in the EGR tables, so the motor will get detonation prone in a short period of time.

yes you can. but you HAVE to find a way to let the PCM know that the EGR valve is shut all the time. go to fordfuelinjection.com theres an EGR eliminator there, and you can also read up on the EGR system and find out how it really works.

when you remove the egr stuff can you just leave the smog pump in tack and use a short belt to bypass it, and let it and its plumbing just be as is?
