Im having a problem with my 96 E350 van.
I had some questions in another thread about setting a CEL and losing power.
I checked it out yesterday and didnt find anything obviously wrong.
It reset the CEL itself and seems to be running ok.
But Im a little leery about driving it.
Im thinking if I can put a scanner on it and monitor it while driving I can see what the code is if it happens again.
Id also like to monitor the transmission Ive noticed some funny shifting at 40mph over the past year.
Anyone know a good scanner for this?
I dont really need one with a programmer since I allready have a chip from Beans.
I don't know of a scanner that you can hook up and drive with without getting into big bucks like AutoEnginuity. There are many hand held scanners that will read your system for codes whether you set a CEL or not.
As far as the trans. problem you might go on line with the CURE and put your rig through their test to ascertain whether their product will be of a benefit to you or not. The Ford Transmission Cure for shift flair problems.
Several of the members including myself have found this accessory to be extremely beneficial.
I'm sure others will jump in and offer further suggestions.
I have the AE and it takes awhile to learn how to use it (Me anyway) but it is quite awesome and will do more things for my PSD that I have learned too do to date. (I know this because the book says so )
Looks like the Autoenginuity is about $250 on their website.
Was really hoping for a stand alone instead of a laptop.
Ive got an older Autotap progam I need to find out if that will work if I have to do the laptop.
