What year is it?

Is it corect that 1973,74,and 75 F-100's use the same grill? How can you tell what year these trucks are?Is there a site that explains the body changes say from 1973 to 1979?

The inserts are different from 73-75 than from 76-77 I believe.

Yes.

Grille-wise:
The 73-75 split grille goes across the whole front of the truck, including around the headlights. 76-77 grilles had square bezels around the headlights, so the split grilles weren't as wide. Take a look through the FTE galleries. There are a lot of front end shots of trucks, you'll spot the differences pretty quickly.
Or you can check your VIN...

No..... in 78 ONLY the CUSTOM had round headlights

Rectangular HL's were introduced on Ranger in 78

No truck has Square headlights

All 4 sides would have to be of equal length.

IIRC, I was able to order the black headlight bezels (to go with the black mirrows) on my '79 Ranger XLT Lariet.

You guys and your details... Ask a Jeep guy which Jeeps are better, ones with square headlights or round headlighs. You won't get a correction, just an opinion.

How about "not round" headlights instead?

It's just giveing the correct info.
The answer to the differences has already been posted, and now the extra info is just being given correctly so noone gets the wrong or misinformed info.

It's truck, the lights are rectanglular(sp?)
It's just like the 351M and 400.
There's no such thing as a 400M.
When someone says that, to me it sounds like they don't know what they're talking about...., and to prevent it from happening again, just let them know the proper terminology(my spelling is terrible).
