How many head gaskets were blown to over boosting? You can over boost with or without a tuner. I did running stock. I think a boost gauge is a must on all 6.0L before 2005. I believe you can overboost more easily with a tuner... but that is up to the driver. Stuck turbo vains will cause overboosting which I believe is caused by the EGR system. This too will blow the head gaskets... with or without a tuner. I won't use a tuner because I can't afford one and I don't trust my foot! I think everyone of these trucks needs aftermarket gauges to monitor the engine and transmission. This will help prevent blown head gaskets with or without a tuner. Just my opinion.

Mine have crapped out and there is still a problem with the poll despite the fact that this poll would apply to the fact that I had head issues. I can not definatively say(and probably more then likely no one else that has already voted that running a tuner caused there head issues) that the tuner that I ran is what caused the problem or that it was that way from stock or that I caused warpage with the heads while I was driving the truck before I put the tuner on. There isn't an option that expresses that on this poll either. I know it's a no win situation, but unfortunately it is what it is.

It will be good to know stats. Some folks get pretty sensitive about this issue though. I bloew the gaskets on my 03' and did ARP bolts before it was the "kewl thing to do" and I did bolts on my 06' before I put a tuner on because we all know that is one of Navistars weaknesses.

Looks like this POLL is not very popular

OR

There are only a couple of dozen trucks with head gasket problems and most of them are STOCK.

Maybe Ford will take note of this Poll and recall all the stock trucks to install a tuner.
