I got both heads on the same day. Three ton in the box 35+ lbs of boost what a mess ,coolant covered the entire engine compartment. Slowly drove with the temp gauge past the red 4-6 times until I could get 10+ liters of water in the truck. Then back on the highway heading home with the truck running like a top until I passed a transport and the water pump packed it in. She got me home with the payload so I fixed her up and love her even more.It was my right foot that took out the HG I was watching the boost gauge when they popped.

Your missing a few options on the survey. I have blown heads while I was using a tuner, do I know for a certain fact that my tuner did indeed cause the problem, no I don't. A survey like this is fraught with problems because someone might think that they have blown heads because they were using a tuner, but they in truth had head problems before they even put the tuner on the truck. I for one can't say that the tuner cased my head problems, but until my truck had puked on the dyno after having put ARP studs in(I did the studs because I was doing injectors so I figured I had for sure gone over the top with what stock could handle) I didn't know I had head problems. There was no indication either(tea kettle sound etc) to lead me to believe I had head problems until after I had the studs put in. Since you don't have the option: had head problems but don't know if it was caused by the tuner I won't be able to cast a vote on this survey.

It would also be interesting to see how many people run a tuner and haven't blown a headgasket.

While it's not exactly my truck, they are stock ambulances. Twin 04 450s somewhere around 7-8 sets of head gaskets. One gets head gaskets more than tires.

I have read of two on this board that haven't. As to there credibility, who knows, I don't have enough to suggest that they weren't telling the truth, but who knows. Like everything on the internet, hard to tell validity.

The poll is flawed in that the choices assume your answer is yes to the question and that you've had a blown head gasket. What if your answer is no and you haven't had a blown head gasket? There's no choice for this option. Seems to me there should be at least one more choice to include no blown head gasket.

This poll was based on another thread, and is consitent with that threads question:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...-vs-stock.html

All this poll is for are those who HAVE blown head gaskets. As far as this poll goes don't really care about those who have not blown head gaskets. Trying to see the comparisons between those 3 issues (stock, air kit or Exhaust, tuner/fuel box.) So what might seem incomplete to some is very complete to those of us who are considering future modification, whether it's a tuner or fuel box.....

Feel free to do another poll and include those who have never had a blown HG...... That sounds great too!

I voted for having blown HG with a tuner but my truck had bigger injectors was overloaded and I over boosted it. Where do I fit ,what was the breaking point? Was it the tuner?

This is a difficult issue to examine because like some have said maybe your HG's were already on their way out, maybe the bolts were slightly stretched when you modded yours?? You just don't know, maybe it was going to stretch the head bolts anyway, stock?? This whole issue really boils down to Navistars poor design/engine building/crappy head bolts etc.... It really is unfortunate that Ford knew of this issue and did not require Navistar to install heasd studs and have better Qaulity Control of these 6.0's.....Many say they dealt with the issue on the 05' - 07's but I have heard of just as many 06 and 07's with lifted heads as I have 04's........ Sucks because when these 6.0 are running right they are sweet!

The way that they addressed them was kinda iffy at best when it came to the later 6.0s, they did a much better job with the issue with the 6.4 in my opinion.

It's called "cooking the books" or influencing the outcome to be what you are looking for.

Someday maybe a real poll with the above choices + 2 more.

Tuner No head problems
No Tuner No head problems (that would be me, maybe I'll get to vote in the next Poll BUT I sure DON'T want to vote in this one!)

I think "cooking the books" would imply fraudulent activities performed in order to falsify results. If the poll doesn't apply to your engine....sorry. If it makes you feel better it doesn't apply to mine either. I'm still curious about the results.

How we do'n

WOW! I have never seen this much whining about a poll? Hey if your HG's haven't popped yet, good for you! Just trying to get some info on what type of setups have more HG issues, simple as that..... I expect more people have not had HG issues. But with the few who have it would be nice to know if they were modified.

Looks like stock is the most prone to head problems .
Probably impossible to have a politically correct poll you would have to have year, tow, no tow, heavy tow etc, etc.

But this will be VERY interesting to watch, THANKS for setting it up.
