What's this?

I tried posting the image from my gallery and not sure if it worked.
behind the rear tires, riveted to the frame, are two approximately 14" long rods. there is one on each side. the ends are threaded, they are angled down around 30 degrees or so and I think they are supposed to swivel out.
Any ideas what they could be for?
The image is my tear down gallery.

Looks like maybe spare tire mounting bolts that someone backed into a ditch and bent out of shape.

I'm not the best picture taker. the straps that hold it to the frame are riveted on and the bars (without the rust) would be able to swivel out. I'm just not sure why they would do that for an under bed tire carrier.
Does nobody else have these things under their trucks? I would think it's factory because of the rivets? Everything else on this beast seems to be held on with carriage bolts.

I just bought the arms - part number 1471 in the picture. And from what I understand, the nuts, part number 1476, are even a bit harder to find!! I'll buy your nuts, if you decide not to keep them...I plan to make part number 1443, as I've adverted for one in the classifieds, and don't suspect I'll find one. And if worse comes to worse, I'll turn out the nuts on the lathe, but would like to find one as a pattern.

Anyone have an extra part nuber 1443, they'd be willing to sell/swap?

I think the F1 had an eye, and clevis instead, or maybe it's a later year...(Bob? got pics of different ones????), that I'll be getting rid of.

ya know, it you extend the arms, they'd make neat sparks, as you drove down the road! And not near as noisy as dragging your muffler, as they do around these parts....

Roger,
Only one of my arms has that nut on the end. Good thing I didn't cut it off yet! Send me an address and it's yours. Are you anywhere near Speedway?

The one drawing is for a '48-52 F-2 and F-3. The F-1 looks very similar but I couldn't find a drawing for it. The one difference I can remember is the F-1 has one hanging bracket that has a pivot in the center:

I'm not totally sure the configuration, I don't have my F-1 handy to take a look at right now.
